Excerpt from Rough Guide to Costa Rica:  Set in quiet grounds close to the reserve, the Fonda Vela is probably the best hotel in the area, expertly managed, with attentive staff, beautiful touches and a range of good - value rooms plus a highly recommended restaurant.  New rooms (suites) aim for deluxe, with huge bathrooms and beautiful fixtures and furniture.   Older rooms are more rustic but have greater charm, with wood-paneled walls and huge windows - most giving astonishing views, especially at sunset.  The owner's father is an artist and classical musician, and sometimes gives concerts in the hotel.
